This last December I finished my degree in Web Design.  I still have some general breadth (Math, English, Geography, etc.) to finish, but I actually have the certification so its not just me saying I went to college anymore.  I have a piece of paper.  I'm still in school, but now with goal for a second major, Computer Science with a focus on Java.  

I've been working as a freelancer doing odd web sites here and there, some logo design and identity branding for small local companies, but most of my income has come from adds on my blog, and the G.I. bill.  It pays to be a vet... no literally, $1,400 per month direct deposited into my account just for being enrolled in college.

I have used up about 50% of my G.I. bill and the freelance work is more stress that its work.  Bottom line, now that I have a piece of paper that says I'm smarter than the average computer geek I am trying to use it to get a job.  

Since my main career focus is internet technologies I have formatted my resume in not only the normal standards but as a web page as well.  I'm still working on the banner for it, but I have an awesome idea using this script.  Needless to say that's going to be a lot of work.

For now though what I really really really REALLLLLY need is some constructive criticism!  Not that kind that says "you suck" or "great job".  Even though I do like my ego stroked from time to time, I need a reason why you like it (if you like it).  The kind that says what parts make it strong and weak.  Tell me what jumps out at you the most, or what makes you want to run away screaming.  This is hopefully going to get me a job, so I am trying to be really anal about how its supposed to look.

So far I have had one employer comment that its too short, so I'm also working on a Curriculum Vitæ.

I want a to get my full 20 piece "Super Fantastic Golden Platter Cake" like I have on ~RazorNylon but don't want to just go and give it all to myself, which I'm well aware is an option.  Call me odd but it feels like cheating that way.  So if anyone wants me to give me a slice of cake I will return the favor and we can both go about getting our cakes this way.

Please only give one piece of cake per person, the goal is to have 20 different people give me cake.  

If you don't have any points, don't ask me for any.  You are more than welcome to give me a llama and in return I will completely ignore you.

I'm taking a typography class this semester, and part of our homework is to carry around a large envelope and fill it with random type samples that we find.  Whether its a candy wrapper or a poster.  As long as the focus is the type, she wants us to collect it.

I proposed the idea of creating a category in my favorites on deviantART and using that as my folder to collect type and she said it was acceptable! So now, I get to browse random deviations focusing on type here on deviantART for HOMEWORK!  Can't get more awesome than that!  

Oh yeah.... if you want to help me with my homework, leave a link in the comments!  Don't care if its your deviation or not, just as long as it focuses on typography!!!!

I tried doing the one or two deviations a day but I started slacking and missed a couple days.  So I am just going to give up and post as many as I can for now so you might get a small flood of incoming deviations from me.  Hopefully I will be able to knock out a large enough chunk of them this weekend, but I guess we'll see.

Part of the reason I am unsure is that I run all my pictures through Photoshop.  At the very least I edit the file info and embed my copyright info into the images and occasionally modify the color, contrast, or crop them.  I didn't do this on my old account so I am having to go back and re-do them all.  I am saving them in a PSD with a copy of the original and color corrected version, a JPEG for uploading here on in my portfolio, and a special 5x7 JPG that I can print and place in this little pocket portfolio I carry in my bag (aka my mobile office).  

Another nice thing about re-doing everything is I am going through all my old images again and finding new photos that I previously overlooked.  So this could also hamper me getting through everything this weekend if I find more to alter.  

Anyway, please bear with me as I am still setting this account up.

UPDATE: Ok, so maybe light flood wasn't the word for it.  I currently have 114 images that have been processed and are ready to be uploaded and only have 75 deviations at the moment here.  I have a folder with another 100 or so images that need to be processed or eliminated...... and that's just my photography.  I have lots of digital art, web designs and other things to upload too.

So this is going to take some time.

It's Halloween!!!!

Just a quick update to let you know that I have created a new account.  Actually I created this account a while ago to squat on it as I am slowly finding out this name is used by someone else on a few other web sites.  But I am going to use it from now on.  

My old account was but I'm going to turn that account into a stock account and other resource dumping ground.  This account is going to be all about my art, so don't expect any tutorials.... they'll be on ~RazorNylon.

Things will be moved over here slowly at the rate of about 1-3 deviations a day.  I am going to try and touch them up a little in photoshop first as well and make sure all my meta tags are in place before I upload them here to.  Something I didn't do before and wish I had.  This will be part of the reason for the delay, another reason is I don't want to overwhelm everyone with 100 deviations all at once.

Anyway, if you see artwork here that is also on ~RazorNylon don't freak and scream art thief, it will soon be deleted on ~RazorNylon and become a permanent resident here.
